Brothers on the Porch 2026 Event Recap
On June 3, 2026, the South Carolina Cancer Alliance proudly hosted its second annual Brothers on the Porch Men's Health Month Celebration in Florence, South Carolina, bringing men together for meaningful conversations about health, prevention, early detection, and overall wellness.
The event created a welcoming space for men to learn, connect, and engage in open discussions about the importance of taking charge of their health. Attendees heard from healthcare professionals and community leaders who shared valuable information on prostate cancer, lung cancer, cancer screenings, and the role preventive care plays in improving long-term health outcomes.
A highlight of the event was the recognition of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of South Carolina for its continued commitment to serving communities across the state and supporting efforts to ensure men are educated, informed, and empowered to make healthy choices. Their partnership and leadership have played an important role in advancing health awareness and outreach among men throughout South Carolina.
The event also celebrated the growing impact of the Men's UNITED for Health Initiative, a statewide effort focused on encouraging men to prioritize preventive care and become advocates for healthier communities. More than 20 men signed the Men's UNITED for Health pledge during the event, committing to regular screenings, healthier lifestyle choices, and encouraging family members and friends to take proactive steps toward better health.
Brothers on the Porch reflects the South Carolina Cancer Alliance's ongoing commitment to reducing cancer disparities and increasing awareness among men, particularly in communities that may face barriers to healthcare access and preventive services. By creating opportunities for education, conversation, and connection, the event helps break down stigma and encourages men to seek the care they need before health concerns become serious.
